INTER PET TRAVEL
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE AGREEMENT

This agreement is made between Inter Pet Travel (“THE TRANSPORTER”) and the undersigned client (“THE OWNER”), collectively referred to as “the Parties”, for the provision of professional pet transportation services.

1. DEFINITIONS

  • THE TRANSPORTER refers to Inter Pet Travel, a DEFRA-authorised and fully insured pet transport service provider.
  • THE OWNER refers to the individual or party contracting Inter Pet Travel for the transportation or boarding of their pet(s).
  • PET(S) means the animal(s) in the care of THE TRANSPORTER for the purposes of transportation, boarding, or related services.

2. GENERAL CONDITIONS

1.1 THE TRANSPORTER undertakes significant planning and preparation for every journey, taking into account each pet’s temperament, medical needs, travel ability, and welfare.

1.2 All services shall be conducted in accordance with DEFRA regulations and best practices for animal welfare.

1.3 Rest breaks are taken every 2.5 to 3 hours for the welfare of pets and drivers. This may extend overall journey times.

1.4 Pre-booking is required, often weeks or months in advance, due to scheduling constraints within the UK and Europe.

3. HEALTH AND VETERINARY CARE

3.1 THE OWNER must declare any pre-existing conditions. THE TRANSPORTER reserves the right to seek veterinary advice or treatment where deemed necessary.

3.2 THE OWNER agrees to cover all veterinary costs, including those incurred during transport, not covered by THE TRANSPORTER’s insurance.

3.3 Dogs sharing transport do so at the OWNER’S risk. Any injuries resulting from inter-animal disputes are the OWNER’s financial responsibility.

3.4 Pets will be insured by THE TRANSPORTER under a commercial transport policy, but THE OWNER is strongly encouraged to maintain separate pet insurance.

3.5 THE TRANSPORTER shall make every effort to respond immediately in case of illness or injury by transporting the animal to the nearest veterinary facility.

3.6 Emergency care will incur a charge of £25 per hour, plus all veterinary fees payable immediately upon request.

4. TRANSPORT CONDITIONS

4.1 Dogs shall be exercised approximately every 2.5 to 3 hours during travel.

4.2 Cats and other animals will be cared for in accordance with best practice, though no responsibility can be accepted for incidents or death outside THE TRANSPORTER’S control.

4.3 No reductions are offered for OWNER-supplied food. Special diets not stocked by THE TRANSPORTER must be supplied by THE OWNER.

4.4 THE OWNER must ensure all dogs are fully vaccinated against Distemper, Parvovirus, Canine Hepatitis, and Rabies.

4.5 All cats must be fully vaccinated against Rabies, FVR, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia.

4.6 All original health documentation must be provided to THE TRANSPORTER and retained throughout the period of travel. These documents will be returned upon delivery.

5. DOCUMENTATION AND TRAVEL COMPLIANCE

5.1 It is THE OWNER’S responsibility to provide all legally required documents, including but not limited to vaccination records, microchip certificates, health certificates, and AHCs.

5.2 Failure to provide valid documentation may result in refusal of travel. In such cases, THE OWNER remains liable for full payment, including admin and transport costs.

5.3 THE TRANSPORTER reserves the right to refuse transportation of any pet deemed unfit for travel or in poor condition.

6. BOOKING TERMS

6.1 Charges and Payments

  • All prices include 20% VAT.
  • A minimum 50% deposit is required at the time of booking (bank transfer only).
  • Full balance is due 7-10 days prior to travel, unless otherwise agreed.
  • A EuroTunnel fee of £23 per pet per journey will be added to the final invoice.

6.2 Postponements

  • Postponements made at least 6 weeks prior to travel may be rescheduled free of charge, subject to availability.
  • Postponements made within 6 weeks incur an admin fee of £30, also subject to availability.

6.3 Cancellations

  • A 1-month cooling-off period applies from the date of the initial invoice.
  • The exception is if THE OWNER has received services (e.g., advice, document processing), in which case reasonable fees will be retained to cover costs.
  • Last-minute deals and travel already commenced are excluded from the cooling-off period.

7. ADDITIONAL CHARGES

7.1 A 1-hour operating window applies to all collections/deliveries. Excess wait times may be billed at £90/hour.

7.2 THE TRANSPORTER reserves the right to invoice the full amount post-cancellation if losses have been incurred due to THE OWNER’s unfair conduct.

7.3 Pets returned from Europe are subject to Border Inspections. Non-compliance with health or import regulations may result in quarantine costs, boarding fees, and additional waiting time, all chargeable to THE OWNER.

7.4 Any add-on charges are payable immediately.

7.5 Vets fees, if not prepaid or covered by insurance, must be paid by THE OWNER without delay.
